Sir Martin is a former Chairman of Prudential plc and of BZW and also of the British Council. He has been at various times Deputy Chairman of Barclays plc and director of the Bank of England, Rio Tinto plc, and Marks and Spencer plc, as well as other companies. Currently he is Chairman of Canary Wharf Group plc and Share plc and Chancellor of the University of Buckingham.
