Bob has a wealth of experience in international insurance business and played a leading role in the consolidation of the UK insurance industry. He retired as group chief executive of CGNU plc (now Aviva) in 2001, having previously held the same position with CGU plc and General Accident plc where he was an executive director since 1992. He was also Chairman of the Association of British Insurers (2000-2001) and a member of the President’s Committee of the Confederation of British Industry (1998—2000). Bob is a non-executive director of Swiss Re and Jardine Lloyd Thompson plc (an insurance and pensions consulting business).
