Sir Mark Weinberg

Group Chairman

Sir Mark is the President of St James Place plc, the listed parent company of the St James's Place Wealth Management Group which he co-founded in 1991 and which today has over 1,500 financial advisers and £ 23 billion of funds under management. In 1961 Sir Mark founded Abbey Life Assurance Company in London. In 1969 he co-founded Hambro Life Assurance (Allied Dunbar), now part of Zurich Financial Services, which grew to become the largest unit-linked life assurance company in the UK. Sir Mark was Deputy Chairman of the principal UK regulatory body, the Securities and Investment Board, from its inception in 1985 until 1990, having been an adviser on insurance affairs to the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry. He has many charitable interests and is a governor of the London School of Economics.

Sir Mark is the Chairman of Pension Insurance Corporation Holdings. He chairs the weekly meetings of the Risk and Investment Committee and is on the Nomination and Allocation Committees. 

Sir Martin Jacomb

Chairman of PIC

Sir Martin is a former Chairman of Prudential plc and of BZW and also of the British Council. He has been at various times Deputy Chairman of Barclays plc and director of the Bank of England, Rio Tinto plc, and Marks and Spencer plc, as well as other companies. Currently he is Chairman of Canary Wharf Group plc and Share plc and has recently retired from being Chancellor of the University of Buckingham. 

John Coomber

Chief Executive Officer of PIC

John retired as the Group Chief Executive Officer of Swiss Reinsurance Company of Zurich in December 2005, following 33 years at the world's leading reinsurance company. Today John serves as a Board member of the Swiss Re Group, Mactavish and is the Chairman of ClimateWise. John is also a Trustee of The Climate Group and a member of the Deutsche Bank Climate Change Advisory Board. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries and an Honorary Fellow of The Chartered Insurance Institute. 

Edmund Truell

Director

Edmund is the founder of Pension Corporation, a leading provider of risk management solutions to defined benefit pension funds. Edmund has 27 years experience in private equity and debt markets.  He was appointed Chief Executive of Hambro European Ventures in 1994; led its 1998 buyout and formation of Duke Street Capital, growing it into one of the larger European mid-market private equity managers; and was responsible from 2000 for creating and building Duke Street Capital Debt Management into one of the largest leveraged loan managers in Europe.  He sold out of DSC in March 2007.  Edmund was Chairman of the British Venture Capital Association 2001 – 2002. He is a trustee of the Truell Charitable Foundation and Chairman of Disruptive Capital Finance LLP.

 

Rob Sewell

Director & Chief Financial Officer

Rob has been Chief Financial Officer at Pension Insurance Corporation since 2008, responsible for the overall financial and capital performance of the business.

Rob is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales and qualified in 1991, since when he has worked in a variety of financial services roles. He was previously Chief Executive of National Westminster Life Assurance, and from 2001 was the UK Finance Director for Legal & General Group.

Timothy Hanford

Director

Tim is Managing Director of J.C. Flowers & Co. UK Ltd and is an Investment Advisor. He was previously Co-Head of FPK Capital. Prior to his role at FPK Capital, he was Head of Private Equity at Dresdner Bank and a member of the Institutional Restructuring Unit's Executive Committee. Tim's other previous experience includes private equity investing with Charlemagne Capital and serving as a Board Director of Schroders, based in Hong Kong and Tokyo, where he was responsible for structured finance. He holds an MS degree from Stanford University's Graduate School of Business, where he was a Sloan Fellow, and a BSc degree in Chemical Engineering from Birmingham University. 

David Morgan

Director

David is Managing Director J.C. Flowers & Co. Europe and Asia Pacific since December 2009, having previously been Chairman of J.C. Flowers (Australia) Pty Limited and a global operating partner of J.C. Flowers & Co. LLC. J.C. Flowers is the largest private equity firm in the world specializing in financial services. From 1999 to 2008 David was the Chief Executive Officer of Westpac Banking Corporation, a global top twenty bank by market capitalization. In 2009, he was awarded an Order of Australia in the Australia Day Honours by the Federal Government for his service to the finance sector as a leader in the development of policies affecting the regulation of financial institutions, corporate social responsibility, and economic reform. He is the author of the book Over Taxation by Inflation. 

John Narvell

Director

As a non-executive director at Pension Corporation, John serves on the Investment & Advisory Committee and on the Solvency II Steering Committee. John has over thirty years of diverse actuarial experience having worked in Belgium, Bermuda, Switzerland, USA, and the UK. He presently provides consulting services specializing in reinsurance run-off acquisitions. John's previous roles include Global Chief Actuary at GE Insurance Solutions prior to its sale to Swiss Re in 2006 and Partner in the Actuarial Consulting practice of Ernst & Young LLP. John is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and is active in various professional organizations including service on the Executive Committee of the CAS. 

Nick Parker

Director

Nick has been a corporate finance advisor for 30 years. As a partner in PwC, he was EMEA head of project finance and privatisations, focussing on energy and public sector strategy.

Nick is a non-executive director of Pension Insurance Corporation Holdings LLP, chairman of its Audit Committee, and an advisory partner of PC.LLP (the management company of PICH) where he is on the Allocations Committee. He is also a director of Scottish Resources Group PLC, which he chairs; The Wastepack Group Limited, which he chairs; Continental Farmers Group PLC and The Universum Group AB (Sweden), where he chairs the audit committees. From 2004-2007, he was part time head of Performance & Innovation at the Scottish Executive, which was tasked with delivering aspects of public service reform and efficiency. He has been a trustee of The College of Optometrists, 2002-'09 and Project Scotland, 2005-'07 and is trustee and treasurer of the European Academy of Optometry and Optics. 

Bob Scott

Director

Bob has a wealth of experience in international insurance business and played a leading role in the consolidation of the UK insurance industry. He retired as group chief executive of CGNU plc (now Aviva) in 2001, having previously held the same position with CGU plc and General Accident plc where he was an executive director since 1992. He was also Chairman of the Association of British Insurers (2000-2001) and a member of the President's Committee of the Confederation of British Industry (1998—2000). Bob is a non-executive director of Swiss Re, he is a Chairman of Payzone Ventures Limited and adviser to Duke Street Capital.

Bob is a member of the PICH Audit Committee and a member of the PIC Risk and Investment Committee. 

Edward Giera

Director

Ed is a former Managing Director in the investment banking division of J.P. Morgan responsible for pension risk transfer and risk advisory activities. Ed chairs the Pension Risk Advisory Oversight Committee and is a member of J.P. Morgan's Reputation Risk Committee. From 2003-2005, Ed headed J.P. Morgan's Debt Capital Markets, Leveraged Finance and Structured Finance origination businesses in Europe. Ed also represents J.P. Morgan on the Investment and Advisory Committee of Pension Insurance Corporation and at meetings of the Audit Committee of Pension Insurance Corporation Holdings. Ed is also a director of the Life & Longevity Markets Association.
